Accept True Life. (an epistle)

So -

How long has it been? Since high school? Maybe only last month. Yesterday?
I haven't really been around, so I'm not too sure. How are you?
Where have I been?

When I was in Upstate New York, I drove through reddening autumn leaves,
I passed into the horizon, right into that crimson sun with the illuminated, golden and bleeding clouds.
I was there.

And you?
How's Martha? Still play violin? Dentistry must be making you a fortune.
Are you free, though? Are you?

When I was in North Dakota, I walked sixteen miles through bare land, shoes over my shoulder.
Pure, rich soil filtered through my toes, and I felt the world. Perfection of the soul.
I was there.

Do you still write? You know I loved your writing.
You could always pick the right words to describe your thoughts. A genius.
Do you still think?

When I was in Mexico, culture flooded me as if I were a levee. Drowning can be just what you need.
Thousands of years of humanity and nature were exposed to me. I accepted.
I was there.

I'm still everywhere. Still learning and being and writing.
Come join me. Be who you used to be.
Live.

- D.
